What is Studio Life and why is our YouTube show called 'Is It Shit?'...? Good question...  Well, Studio Life is the channel and instagram account run by Sean J Vincent and Dan Peters. We're both sound engineers with over 50 years combined experience working in both studios and all over the world on various tours.  We've both worked for some of the biggest names in the industry and have been trusted to mix/master or record various world-selling recordings since the early 90s. Dan works from his studio in Oxfordshire and Sean works from his studio in Hertfordshire. (which is where 'Is It Shit?' is filmed.) The YouTube show got it's name after Sean was searching for a review on a plugin back in 2022 and couldn't find one... he ended up googling the name of the plugin with the phrase 'Is It Shit?' added to the end to see if anyone on a forum had posted anything negative about it...  no joy. So, after a conversation in the pub, Sean and Dan decided this was the ideal name for a new plugin review show.... and that was that.

Back in the late 90s and early 2000s, Sean used to write for various magazines in his spare time, including 'The MiX' and 'Computer Music', so we had enough contacts to start things off...and we've been releasing 2 videos a week ever since.

Why no audio demos?  - We get asked this a lot. Basically, there's loads already online and to our ears, there's rarely anything that helps make a purchasing decision... it's often pre-processed audio being shoved through more compression or EQ, and that's a bit pointless. We advocate downloading a demo and hearing for yourself! We do reviews...not demos!

We massively appreciate the growing community of subscribers and people getting involved in the comments and we aim to bring more and more interesting content to the channel.

Sean & Dan x
